When the trail is essentially a granite staircase, you wouldn’t want to bike it to begin with.

Snake in Leaves
I found this little guy on a hike last spring. For a snake, he was remarkably well behaved, allowing me to photograph him for several minutes, and when I was finished, even allowing me to pet him.
I’m sure I’ll never again run into a snake, or anything else that tame again.
Dream on
Another shot from last weeks hike. This time I had a little fun with Photoshop.
First, this is was made up of a combination of four separate shots stitched together with photomerge. After some exposeure adjustments and messing with curves, I got fancy with the diffusion and added some glow to the highlights. I may have gotten a little carried away, but the closer to 11 it got tonight, the more my eyes started to cross.

Only YOU can prevent forest fires…
The bottom half of this small tree was completely charred from a brush fire last fall.
Remember, no smoking on the trails. At least that’s what the bear in the hat says.
Binary Crossing
Sure it once said school crossing, but the elements have worn away the paint in this more recent shot of Old Route 128.
I love abandoned things, I’m thinking a trip to an abandoned missile launching site very soon…
