Green Pink

A few weeks ago, Lauren and I went to Mystic Aquarium to participate in their Penguin Encounter program, in which you get to meet one of their African Penguins.

We got to meet this little gal, a three year old penguin named Green-Pink. The name Green-Pink comes from the colored bead band on each penguin’s flipper (submerged in this photo), and although it seems like a rather silly and a not at all creative name, after listening to this penguin being called Green-Pink over and over for only a few minutes, both Lauren and I agreed that yes, naturally this penguin’s name is Green-Pink. Why wouldn’t it be. How dare you suggest otherwise.

Although I took many pictures during the encounter program itself, I decided to post this one of her splashing about in her “natural” habitat.
